In preparation for my family’s Thanksgiving get together, I dove into the AppShopper App to look at some apps that have recently been price dropped to free for Thanksgiving.
It turns out there are a bunch of great app’s that have been temporarily price dropped to free for Thanksgiving.
Here are my top 5:
3do - The next generation of reminder apps By Cleversome
Regular price: $4.99

This is yet another to do list application, but the interface is pretty nice. You can easily add new tasks, and once you have captured them, you swipe the task to trigger a 3d animation to toggle between setting due dates, checking the task off as complete, etc.
Another feature listed in the app’s description is “no tick-mark in the app’s icon”. That’s funny, but the app’s icon isn’t really anything great.
Although personally I like a little more GTD functionality in my to do app (cough omnifocus cough) this is a really nice streamlined app. I’m not sure I would pay 5 bucks for this app
A+ FlashCards ProBy ADS Software Group, Inc.
Regular price: $4.99
Price today: FREE
Although I might not end up using this app much because it seems to be designed for the specific purpose of using flash cards for memorizing things like vocab words (I prefer using my index cards more like a Hipster PDA), this is potentially a very useful app if you want to use flash cards to learn things.
It gives you a few decks of flash cards by default (100 SAT words, world capitals), and you of course you can create your own decks.
It gives you a few clever shortcuts to help you create the flash cards. There is built in shortcuts to look up definitions and translations. The app also gives you several options to share and backup your cards.
For me, the really interesting feature is the quiz feature. The app let’s you mark each card as know, don’t know, or not sure. This helps you quantify your progress and makes learning vocab a little more fun.
I really wish I had this app in highschool spanish class.
Async Corp. By Powerhead Games
Regular price: .99

This is a fresh and cute puzzle game in the style of a bejeweled. The goal is to swap the different colored blocks to make 2x2 grids that then turn into cute little faces that smile and wink at you. This might sound lame, but the app is a nice cohesive experience.
The music and art are really nice and friendly.
I’m not a huge fan of puzzle apps, but I will make an exception for this one.
I highly recommend you pick up this app.
Zombie Parkour Runner By Break Media
Regular price: .99
Price today: FREE
This is a fun little game from Break Media. You are a parkour runner jumping and vaulting from rooftop to rooftop and over zombies.
As a big fan of parkour, I am admittadly biased, but this app could keep me entertained while.
Because I am not yet disciplined enough to become a parkour master in real life, Zombie Parkour Runner is my next best bet for now.
FiLMiC Pro By Cinegenix, LLC
Regular price: 2.99
Price today: FREE
This is a very polished video camera app. I could see using just this app to film something serious.
A few of the killer features include independently moving the focus and the exposure, as well as focus and exposure lock.
Although changing the focus isn’t quite as nice as a professional hollywood movie, it’s still a cool effect.
Now all you need is an iPhone tripod mount.
This is going to reach you a little too late to use this app to film your Thanksgiving celebrations, but maybe you can use it to film a horror movie about Black Friday.
